⏱ 35 minutes · Makes About 40 small meatballs
Ingredients
- 1 lb 90% lean ground beef
- 1/2 cup rolled oats, ground fine
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup plain canned pumpkin
- 1 tbsp chopped parsley (optional, fresh breath bonus)
Puppyhood is a treat-heavy era — socialization and training burn through hundreds of rewards a week. These soft meatballs split into pea-sized training bits, so you can reward generously while keeping treat calories inside the 10% rule that protects a growing puppy’s balanced diet.
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment.
- Mix all ingredients in a bowl until just combined.
- Roll into small 1-inch meatballs and space them on the sheet.
- Bake 15–18 minutes until cooked through. Cool completely.
How to serve
For training, break meatballs into pea-sized pieces — one meatball can fund a whole session. Refrigerate 4 days or freeze up to 2 months.
Important: Puppies — especially large breeds — should get their main nutrition from a complete puppy formula; treats (all treats combined) should stay under 10% of daily calories. See our large-breed growth guide for why growth speed matters.
